Below is a list of preferred music teachers who support the Adams Middle School Music Program. This is a great resource for our AMS musicians to complement their practice in class, as well as for any musician who wants to improve their skills.

Kim grew up in Southern California in the Los
Angeles Area, and now resides in the East Bay. Kim received her Bachelor of Music and Master of Arts Degrees in Music (Flute Performance) from California State University, Los Angeles. While in Los Angeles, she was fortunate to have studied with the principal flutists of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Anne Diener Giles and Jim Walker. Kim has taught Band and Orchestra in grades 5-12, and Classroom Music in grades K-5 in area schools for the past ten years, and is trained in Suzuki Flute and Piano pedagogy, as well as having her CA Single-Subject Teaching Credential in Music from Brandman University. She is currently teaching music at Krey Elementary in Brentwood. In addition, she has maintained a private music studio teaching flute and piano for over 25 years. Kim is an active member of the Music Teachers’ Association of California – Delta Branch (MTAC), where she has served on the Board of Directors as Vice President, Secretary, and as the Teachers’ Recital Chairperson. She was also on the MTAC State Board as the Certificate of Merit Winds Chair for Northern California from 2008-2010, and continues to evaluate flute students throughout the Bay Area. Many of her private students are first chair players in their school bands and youth orchestras and have received scholarships and awards. In addition to teaching, Kim performs solo recitals and events in the Bay Area. Kim has a passion for sharing her love of music to students young and old. :)
Drum & Percussion
At the age of 27 Juan Carreon is considered
one of Northern California's top musicians and educators. A lifelong Brentwood resident, Juan has received nationally recognized awards such as the JohnPhillip Sousa award while a student at Liberty High School. He has performed at world famous jazz festivals and on internationally viewed television programs, and has worked on projects for Grammy award winners. As an educator, Juan has been a private teacher, instructor and clinician at various high schools,
colleges and festivals. Currently Juan is a music assistant and drumline instructor for several bay area high schools. Like Juan, his students have been part of major honor bands nationally, and some have continued on as music students at major universities. He has a bachelors degree in music from the University of Miami, rated the best accredited university in the world for drum set studies by Modern Drummer Magazine.
